Valerie Will POV
I was grateful that Patrick allowed me to take Liam.
He didn’t surrender custody, he just allowed me to take him to my mother’s house. That alone felt like a small victory.
Liam had been unusually quiet since we left the hospital. He just clung onto my hand like he was afraid I’d vanish if he let go.
As we pulled up to my mother’s house, she opened the door before we could even knock. Even after I ghosted her for weeks, she still accepted us with open arms.
“Hey.” She said as she took Liam from me. “How is he doing?”
“The doctors said it was just emotional stress and he’ll be good,” I replied as I closed the door behind me. “I’m so glad that’s all it was.”
I still couldn’t help but blame myself. Liam was too little to be going through emotional stress, and I knew exactly why he was stressed.
