Chapter 51
Summer’s POV
Glancing furtively at the door, I traced its outline with my eyes, praying it would remain closed and no one barge in. The room was eerily quiet, with only the sound of my ragged breathing piercing the silence, despite Nana’s presence. As I mulled over whether to answer the call, I could feel beads of sweat forming on my forehead and a knot in my stomach.
Thankfully, she saw my hesitation and spoke hearteningly, “I don’t see any issue with you answering calls to your husband’s phone, as long as it won’t harm his company and businesses. Besides, if the caller is a woman, shouldn’t you be double cautious, Missus Carter?”
I looked up at her with a concern display and warily questioned, “...you think so?”
Along with her two nods, she grinned. “In fact, you used to do that whenever Mister Carter forgot his phone before.”
