He could feel her gaze on him. It had been on him for a while now, and it had taken everything in him to stay focused on the conversations he was having. She had stood with Señor Ramirez for a long time. It had started to bother him that they were together for so long, but then he had to remind himself that Gen was a smart woman. Smart, not cunning, and to convince the old man, she might need some time with him. She was trying to make and sell a very strong image, and rushing would not have been the best course of action.
He was going to trust her this one time, to not do something that could ruin the respect he had started to develop for her. And after her reaction the last time he had accused her of being a gold-digging woman, he was willing to think, even for a moment, that that wasn’t who she was, even though it would leave more questions in his mind as to who she was and what had really happened all those years ago.
