Emily’s POV

I could feel his eyes on me, burning, but I kept my gaze fixed on the passing dark trees of our territory.

Nathan leaned closer, and his scent surrounded me. He touched my jaw with his thumb, sending a jolt through me.

"I’m done fighting this," he murmured, his breath hot against the sensitive skin of my neck. "Seeing you like this, hearing your heart race for me... I can’t fight it anymore."

He pressed me against the seat. “Tonight, after the ceremony, you will be mine. I’m taking what belongs to me.”

A shiver ran down my spine, but I put my hand on his chest, keeping a little distance so I wouldn’t lose control. He slid his hand to the back of my neck, drawing me close to his face.

"And tonight, Emily, everyone will know that you’re mine."
