Chapter 102
June's POV
It was late when we stopped at a hotel not too far from Jackson. I’d booked it an hour earlier and then fell asleep on the way there. Zed woke me up with a soft hand on my thigh, and I realized I’d trusted him enough to fall asleep while he was driving.
That was something new for me.
I was feeling a bit nauseous after eating at the places we’d stopped for food, but I picked things I knew wouldn’t make me vomit, so we were alright.
“We made it,” he said, flashing me a tired smile.
“Sweet,” I murmured, rubbing at the grittiness in my eyes. “Thanks for driving.”
“I offered,” he pointed out.
I rolled my eyes, though the gesture was a bit delayed with how tired I was. “You’ve got a problem with accepting gratitude.”
“Not from everyone. Just you.” He squeezed my thigh lightly before slipping out of the truck. I unbuckled as he grabbed both of our bags from the truck, and he caught my hand to help me out right as I slung my legs ov
