I keep pacing around the room like I’m crazy, waiting for Aria to wake up. This whole thing feels off. I should’ve never left her alone with that man, not when I’ve never trusted him. And now he’s sitting there, telling me she just fainted while playing the piano, like that explains anything. He really expects me to buy that crap?

Yeah, no. Not happening.

Across the bed, Alpha Marcel sits calm as ever, like he’s not part of the problem. He’s just staring at her, watching her unconscious body like she’s going to blink and smile at him any second now.

“I don’t get it,” I say, folding my arms and keeping my voice steady even though I’m fuming inside. “She was totally fine a few minutes ago, and then she just… collapsed while playing the piano?”

“Yes, for the hundredth time, yes,” he says, throwing his hands up a little. “You think I had something to do with it? She’s my daughter, for the goddess’s sake.”

“I don’t know you well enough to
