We’ve just finished laying Alpha Marcus to rest and gotten back to the mansion. The whole thing feels heavy as hell. He passed last night, right after Lucas and I talked to him. The man was barely holding on…thin, weak, sickly as shit…but at least he looked happy to see us. Especially Lucas.

I guess he died with some peace in his heart. He didn’t even bring up Jane or Mark, which was kinda weird. But honestly? I don’t think he remembered them at all. It was like they’d been wiped clean from his memory. Maybe whatever spell Jane threw on him finally wore off in the end.

Back in the room, I crawl onto the bed and settle beside Lucas. The house is full of noise downstairs. Everyone’s still around, even Aunt Esther. She came in like three days ago and hugged the life outta me when she saw I was okay. She damn near cried when I told her everything about Moon River.
