"Brother?" she whisper-shouts, her voice barely audible over the distant argument between Zave and Caen.
I sigh, reluctantly tearing myself away from my comfortable spot. Chantel's gentle touch lingers in my hair as I rise. "Yeah, they're here. Surprise," I grumble.
Chantel giggles softly, her fingers trailing through my hair. "It's a nice surprise. I only don't want them to catch us in this position since—you know we're hiding this?"
I met her gaze briefly. "Hiding from them too?"
She considers it for a moment. "Well, I suppose not? I just want to be safe. He had guards outside your room, Lexcis."
Guards? She never explained to me how this occurred. Not in detail. I'll have to ask her later. But definitely not now. It's neither the time nor the place.
