"What can I do?" he asks desperately, running a hand through his hair. "If she's not responding to you, what can I possibly do?"

"Talk to her. Maybe she needs to hear your voice. I'd wake Veronica, but she's exhausted, and you're here, so go ahead."

I open the door, usher him in, and then close it behind us. Rushing to her side, I crawl into bed next to her, attempting once more to touch her cheek. She doesn't react.

I breathe a sigh of relief as I gently pull her closer. Chantel is on the verge of hyperventilating, yet somehow, she remains asleep. She clutches onto me tightly, and I press my hand against her hair as hers wraps around my waist.

"Chantel, darling, you're okay. Whatever you're seeing, it's not real. You're safe," I reassure her repeatedly, but it seems futile.

"Go on," I whisper to Zave, gesturing for him to approach.
