But he mentioned the west... I subtly glance at Zillah, and she shrugs, indicating her lack of concern.

"We need a name," Laurence interjects, his voice calm amidst the tension. "West could be anywhere from the west of Xilla to the west of Aeden or even the west of Revia."

"Relax, will you? Fine. We'll pay. How much do you want?" I inquire, trying to mask my disdain behind a forced calmness.

The man has a nasty smile on his face as he ponders that question.

I play with the hair at the nape of Killian's neck. It calms him but it also makes him look at me. And that's what I need.

His undivided attention.

"As you can see, business isn't half as much fun as pleasure."
