Chapter 46. Starve

I press her hand against my cheek and relish the feeling of her skin against mine; my eyes flutter shut. I can feel her gaze on me, serious and not faltering.
When I open my eyes, I see that I'm right. She looks dazed and confused; however, her eyes are focused. She tries to understand the things I do but can't. Even though I can't understand myself, I don't blame her.
I lean into her hand and press a kiss against her palm; she inhales sharply and swiftly removes her hand.
"W-we should go to the room. Clean up," she stammers, her words faltering a bit.
I nod, not once looking somewhere else. She's getting awfully anxious; I recognize that. I followed her back into the small room. I'm used to spaces this tiny, and I don't like them, but somehow I get a kick out of sharing them with her.
"I desperately need a shower, and you should first clean that wound up," she suggests, her voice
