"You think this is funny?" He talks, and I can tell that he's not next to the car anymore but rather behind me.

"Hilarious actually," I reply, still holding onto the top of the death machine.

"Let's see how funny you'll find this when in a few years I take your daughter with me for a fun little time."

My laughter stops.

I don't instantly turn around. I keep my hunched-over position, slowly straightening my back. His words are still echoing in my head when he speaks again. "Not so funny anymore, is it? Maybe she'll appreciate me more. I saw her and... She does look a lot like you. She's beau-"

I grab my gun, turn around and shoot him without thinking about it. It's non-fatal but he screams nonetheless. He drops to the ground and I step on his chest, gently pushing the heel of my shoe onto his throat. "One more word about my daughter and you're dead."
