But that didn’t keep it from being creepy as hell.
Not only did it feel as if they were treading through thick molasses, but the darkness couldn’t be penetrated, not even with their night vision. They would have been completely blind if her natural glow hadn’t managed to penetrate the solid sense of nothingness.
And worse, her already depleted magic was beginning to sputter.
She was reaching the limit of her power.
Grimly trying to hide her exhaustion, Pearl felt Kain’s arms wrap around her waist.
“Stop, Pearl,” he commanded, tugging her hard against his body. “I can sense your weariness.”
She tilted back her head to meet his worried gaze. “We’re close to an opening.”
