Chapter 91

I need a lie. Damn it! A good lie. Pearl thought to herself.

"He’s a demon, Vergel. I’ve seen him in my dreams. I'm scared." She told Vergel and thought that was not really a lie. Kain reminded her of her own nightmares.

Vergel’s eyes flash with interest. "If he finds me, he’ll kill me. I just know it." It's also not a lie. Look at her being the epitome of honesty right now. Maybe there was something messed up with the past when she and Main went back to it. Her curses were lifted, obviously. The king hated her. Kain loathed her even more.

So whatever she fixed in the past has not done her any good. But she knew deep inside that she recognized Ethan. She just couldn't get a finger on where, when, or how.

Twigs snapped, and Pearl knew Kain was closer. Probably only a few yards separate her from the hell she once knew so well.

"Please?" She begged.

What if Kain could still recognize her even if she hadn't lifted her fake face?

She couldn't risk that.
