Chapter 85. Village in the Trees

Charlotte’s POV

“Treehouses!”

Their village was elevated above the ground in the trees; I couldn’t believe this was possible. They had wooden steps connecting various tree houses, and some werewolves used vines to traverse quickly. Some pack members, in their werewolf forms, climbed the trees effortlessly; their claws must have been sharp to hang on and move the way they did, jumping from tree to tree.

Kali was the most excited and wanted to climb the tree, but as she drew closer:

“Stop right there, intruders!” A loud, angry voice came from hidden leaves.

Five individuals wearing differently colored pajama-like clothes jumped out, blocking our path, each equipped with a different weapon: a long sword, bow, spear, boomerang, and hammer.

“We are the Forest Five! No intruders allowed in the Mandrake pack! All who pass through this jungle will be considered our enemy! Tread well, outsiders! Unless you don’t fear death!” All five shouted at us.<
