Claire’s POV

The doctor visited once again, informing me that I could go home the next morning, although I still needed to rest at home. Dad was still out with my mom—they were probably still devastated about the news regarding the company.

Arlo, Jasper, and Luke stayed with me, knowing I would be alone if they left because my family was busy. Luke never left my side. Dad might have been so comfortable with the idea of me dating Luke that he allowed me to be with him all the time. If it had been someone else, I was sure he would have let Caleb be our chaperone.

When Luke answered a call and left the room for a while, I was left with Jasper. I was quiet, scrolling through my socials, when he spoke my name. I looked at him, waiting for him to talk again, but he seemed skeptical.

“What do you want to say?” I asked him.

“Please don’t get mad,” he said.

“I won’t, just tell me,” I replied.

“Isn’t it too quick for you to date Luke?
