Chapter 278

Damian’s POV

Sleep doesn’t come easy at night anymore. And even when it does… It punishes me for it.

I will see her again tonight. Selene.

She’s standing where I last saw her, light spilling around her like she doesn’t belong to the same world as me. Her eyes are soft, too soft for what she was about to do. I remember shouting her name, I remember reaching for her—

But in the dream, like in real life… I never reach her in time and i left her to make the terrible decision

“Don’t,” I hear myself say, my voice breaking. “Selene, please don’t do this.”

She smiles at me, beneath the smile was pain and that same knowing smile has haunted me every night since.

“It’s the only way,” she says. Then the light swallows her as she finally disappears
