I see her go again. She didn’t even look back anymore. Everywhere he goes And he follows.bOr maybe she lets him follow. I don’t even know which one is worse.
My fingers tighten against the rough wood of the bench beneath me, nails pressing hard enough to sting, but I barely feel it.
I used to feel everything.
Every shift in the wind. Every heartbeat around me. Every emotion that passed through the pack was like a living thing.
Now…Nothing. Just this quiet emptiness sitting in my chest like something died there and forgot to leave.
I swallow hard, my throat dry as I stare into the dark line of trees where she disappeared.
Azrael. Even thinking his name makes something ugly twist inside me. What makes it worse is because I can’t fight him. Not like… this.
My hand lifts slightly, hovering in the air like I’m expecting to feel something—my wolf, my power, anything.
There’s nothing there. I let it drop slowly.
