Chapter 327. The Rest

I perceived the aroma of cinnamon by my bedside. The branches were soaked in oil, so that the smell would spread. It gave me a pleasant feeling.
Jacob held my hand, while kissing my cheek.
“Don’t run.” He said, in his raspy voice. Then he smiled.
Seeing him smile gave me a lot of strength. I looked at my belly, then immediately looked at Jacob, asking him without words what I feared most.
“The baby is fine. The children are fine too, they are with Larry and Carmen now, playing with the wooden boats.” He said, reassuring me, kissing my lips and then my forehead. “But you haven’t taken care of yourself, you’ve done the opposite of what the doctor said.”
