Chapter 17
Debby was interrupted by a muffled scream, and panic went through her body. She had not understood how it made her take the path of sound, but she spun on her heels and left the boy talking to himself. She panicked for not finding any way to escape, but just as a red-haired woman passed by me, she noticed how purposely none of the doors had door handles. Debby ran to the carpet as she imitated the color of the central structure, and threw herself out.
The scream seemed louder, coming directly from a circle with railings and small stairs. There were several people at a large round table, laughing out loud, as if they weren't hearing the sound a few meters away. The people at the table noticed Debby's presence, and most of them got up. Alarmed, Debby ran to the circle, slipping on the polished floor. In the background, she could see the silhouette of a car under a long white cloth, on its flank there was an uncovered motorcycle, where an individual appeared to work.
