Lira’s POV
The great hall was unnervingly quiet when I stepped inside. Only Alpha Kareth, Byron, and Draven occupied their respective thrones. Myrrha and Lyss were conspicuously absent—though they had been sent out on our joint mission days ago, we had somehow arrived back ahead of them. Zephyr paced anxiously at the center of the chamber, his bright eyes betraying his concern for his mate.
As soon as I entered, Zephyr bowed deeply and dropped to his knees. He had scarcely been able to stand when we first arrived, but now he found the strength to kneel before our Alpha.
“Greetings, my Alpha,” he intoned quietly, his head bowed.
