Chapter 223. Striking Back

Third-Person POV

Meanwhile, on the western flank of the battlefield, Faela, Ronir, and Astrid lay motionless, felled by the formidable potency of Myrrha’s toxin. Their bodies were strewn across the scorched earth, their breaths shallow and labored after inhaling copious amounts of the purple pollen that speckled the air. That left only three warriors standing against the dreaded second delta of the Dreadmaw pack: Nyra, Kaien, and Sylin. Despite their exhaustion, each of them readied themselves to face Myrrha in mortal combat.

Myrrha hovered above them, her lithe form surrounded by drifting motes of poison-laden pollen. She surveyed her three opponents with cold amusement.

“Oh, aren’t you three just the most determined little cuties?” she purred, her violet eyes glittering. She waved a slender hand, casting yet more pollen into the air. “And yet, strangely, my poison hardly seems to faze you. Tell me, why do you remain unaffected?”
