The day had started out simply enough—cool enough to be comfortable, with a gentle breeze whispering through the trees—but it quickly turned into absolute chaos. Seline and I were sprinting through the underbrush, adrenaline surging, because a horde of wild werewolves was closing in on us. Their howls echoed off the trunks, and every branch we snapped underfoot sounded like a gunshot in the still air.
Seline’s special ability had saved us more than once, but it came with a crippling drawback: she could only use it for one hour per day.
