Chapter 77. Training the Clones

Celeste’s POV

Nearly a full month had slipped by since Eryndor set out on his mission, and still the ache in my chest wouldn’t ease. Every morning, I found myself scanning the horizon as if expecting him to stroll back into camp, his confident stride and warm grin sweeping away all my worries. This familiar knot of anxiety reminded me of my days as an omega, when I’d wait on edge for Lira’s hunting party to return from the forest.

Back then, I worried about her safety, about whether wolves or rival packs might ambush her. But even that constant fear never settled into my bones the way this one had. This time, no matter how I tried, I could not shake the dread.

I longed so badly for news. Was Eryndor all right? Had he managed to convince the rest of humanity to join our alliance? Could he persuade them to abandon their centuries-long habit of hunting innocent werewolves and instead stand beside us against the Dreadmaw pack’s impending siege?
