Chapter 38. My Hospital

“Baby, can I come to your room tonight?” Noah whispered in my ear as he passed behind me, carrying a bowl and a bottle of thousand island sauce. 

I bit my lower lip, surprised and goosebumps from Noah’s warm breath hitting the sensitive skin of my neck. 

Noah must be crazy. My grandfather was sitting at the dining room table, looking at stock charts on his iPad, not far from us. What if he heard what Noah said, or even saw our position now, where Noah was almost pressed against my back, even though the kitchen was spacious. 

I stepped on Noah’s foot lightly as he stood beside me, stirring the sauce with the salad vegetables. 

“Don’t do anything,” I said with my lips pressed together. “Grandpa will get suspicious.”
