“Hello, Dad.” 

My father looked away from the iPad in his hand, to me, and reached out for a hug. 

I kissed both of his cheeks, then sat down in front of him, facing a plate of sushi and lemonade. 

“Where’s Mommy?” I asked, looking around. 

“She’ll be home late. Aunt Eva came to the hospital earlier. Raymond has a stomachache and it looks like it’s appendicitis, so your mother needs to calm Aunt Eva down who’s panicking,” my father replied. 

“Oh, poor kid, he must be scared. I’ll call Aunt Eva later,” I said, picking up a piece of sushi with fresh cucumber slices inside the roll. 

“Guess who I met this afternoon, when your Uncle Jayden and I had lunch at our favorite pasta restaurant,” my father said.
