Chapter 20. Rebuffed

Giovanna was crouched down playing with her wolf when she felt someone come up behind her. She stood up and turned back, her usual cold, indifferent look on her face.

"Are you just going to stand there and stare at me? We've got a lot to do! Go help the others put water in my wards." She said, oblivious to his murderous stare, and started walking to get her horse and return to the fortified city.

Anchan was really impressed, he didn't even think about the fact that she treated him like a servant, nor the strange fact that she had a wolf, but the fact that she saw him as an ordinary man. And that wasn't all.

"Can you see me?" He said as he walked some distance behind her.

"I'm not blind."

He stopped, totally stunned.

"And you can hear me!"

"I'm not deaf." She said and mounted her horse. Immediately Anchan was in front of her, preventing her from going any further.
