Giovanna felt that luck was smiling on her again. Living with this woman was proving to be much more profitable than her old apartment, in many ways. The woman washed her clothes and kept her room clean, the rent was much cheaper than in her old apartment, and she helped her with her studies, as she had been a surgical examiner for forty years at the hospital where she worked and knew more about medicine than many of her teachers.
Meanwhile, the detective who was investigating the burglary in her old apartment invited her out on all his days off.
