The next day rolled in quickly, given the fact that we had gotten to the estate after midnight. Nyra had slept in the opposite wing, where Elias and Maribel resided. By the time I woke up, cleaned up and went down to the kitchen, it was already 8 a.m.

"She finally graces us with her presence," Maribel teased as I walked in. Nyra was already up, seated on a raised stool, her elbows placed on the kitchen island in the middle of the kitchen. Her and Maribel seemed to be getting along just fine, even though it was Nyra's first day in the alpha kings' estate. On the countertop was a tray of cookies, unpeeled ripe bananas, buttered toasts and sausages.

"It's not my problem you couldn't get enough sleep," I teased back, pulling a stool beside Nyra. Her hair was unkempt, eyes bloodshot as if she hadn't slept or had been crying.
