I leaned on my office chair, savouring the taste of Delaney that still lingered. Even in the thick silence of the office in the capital, away from the estate, her scent still clung onto me. The way she arched her back the previous day, her soft cries and loud ones, the feel of her skin against mine, the way she fit against Kai – goddess, it all crowded my mind. It reminded me of the painful truth, that we nearly destroyed her, and yet she gave herself to us. It wasn't fully, but enough to make our bond throb in power.
"I must apologise fully," I whispered, rotating the chair to face the high obsidian glass window.
