Chapter 25. Defending
Caius’s POV
Two hours after I left my mom and Chris, the bells of intruders rang, waking most of the Kingdom from a deep sleep. Everyone but me was lying in bed wide-eyed and excited.
I got up slowly and walked to the sink to wash my face. I looked at the man, who was looking back at me for a moment. Inside, I felt like that scared little boy who cried himself to sleep at night, begging his dad to come back. But there wasn’t a boy looking back at me. I was now a man, an Alpha, and had been given a lot of power to make things right for my kind.
As I took deep breaths, my fingers gripped the white sink basin so hard that the side almost broke. I had to get my strength together so I could find my sister. She was going home today.
People were running left and right as I walked down the hall. I thought it was strange that the Kingdom didn’t have any plans for an attack, but I expected it since the King acted like they couldn’t be hurt.
