Chapter 30. Healing Hearts

 Elise’s POV

I was only a few feet away from the hospital, but I was almost out of energy. I was physically tired from fighting the Rogues, using magic, and now practically carrying Sia. My body could stop working at any time. I was barely able to think straight.

I cursed Caius's name the whole way to the hospital, but all Sia did was sigh or moan in agreement. I couldn't figure out why he was so hot and cold. One minute, he looked at me in a way that no one else had before, and it made me give in to him in every way. The next, he treated me like an annoying child who wanted to go away. On top of that, he treated all of my friends like they were filth like they should sit below him.

It made me mad that I couldn't even be grateful for how easily he helped me with fire magic or how he saved me. Whenever I felt a little bit of gratitude, I was reminded right away of what a self-righteous Alpha he really was.
