“Stop pretending, please. Don’t give me hopes.“ She whispered, and Orion gulped sensing the enormous hurt in her voice. He had messed up, really bad. He could tell. But there was nothing he could do. It was not like his hands were tied, he just couldn’t bear the thought of her going through hell knowing Azrael would be coming for her.

What Maverick suggested was the only way for now to keep her identity a facade. It was just this little thought worrying him now and then. In the deepest part of his heart, he wanted her to chose him. But he knew better. If she had chance, he would probably be last person on her list.
