Carlos couldn’t help but chuckle. “No matter how distant two people are, they can’t still be considered distant after one person dies on the chest of the other. I couldn’t tell the difference between her blood and mine.”
There was a bit of silence between them before Petra spoke again.
“It seems like Clyde McCarthy had a vendetta against her in the first place and thought it was the perfect chance to get a hit at you as well.”
Carlos’s fists curled up tightly. It seems he did have something to say after all. He wanted to tell Petra that she really didn’t need to say anything. He was doing fine on his own, not being provoked. He kept quiet still, sure that she was going to get a hint soon enough but he was being optimistic.
“What now?” She asked and Carlos kept his face straight, his lips shut. “Especially with the McCarthy girl.” Carlos was about to turn around and face her when her next sentence dropped. “She seems genuine.”
