Chapter 26. Safe Haven
Savannah’s POV
I wait for Harlan’s voice, but he never says anything. Tessa must be so hurt by this response. She probably wants to hear him say ‘I love you’, but he never says it.
Finally, Tessa staggers away and scoffs, “Oh, I get it. I understand perfectly now…”
Harlan stands still and stares at her, releasing another deep sigh. It looks like he wants to say something, but he’s holding himself back. Silence hangs in the air for the longest time and Tessa shakes her head at Harlan.
“Goodbye, Harlan,” she says finally, turning to her heels and muttering, “I just hope you’ll know what it feels like to love someone someday.”
I just realized now that I shouldn’t be standing here, but it’s too late. Tessa pushes the door open and sees me standing in front of her. She gives me one last deathly glare before pushing past me and walking out the front door.
I staggered back as Tessa pushed me pretty hard. Then, I look into the room and my eyes lock
