Sinclair’s brows shot up in surprise. “But why?!”
Beep beep!
Before Cyrus could answer, his alarm blared, and he leaped from his seat, grabbing his things with robotic precision. He hastily made for the door. Sinclair watched, confused by his sudden urgency, and followed him out. As she stepped into the hallway, he closed the door behind her and dashed down the corridor.
“Hey, answer me! I said I’ll pay you!! Can’t you hear me or something?!”
“Find someone else. I don’t have time,” he called over his shoulder, sprinting down the stairs. Sinclair trailed him, desperation in her voice. “Tell me how much money you want! I’ll buy your time—just name your price!”
Cyrus surged out of the building as if chasing someone, but Sinclair’s steps couldn’t match his pace. She stopped, panting heavily. “Gosh! Why is he so fast? And why is he running all of a sudden?” She scanned the area and spotted her car in the parking lot. An
