Chapter 16. Preparations
Lola entered Edgar’s study cautiously, still feeling a mixture of trepidation and curiosity. It had been several days since the incident, and she hadn’t seen Edgar during that time. The memory of their last encounter, with Edgar fixing her injury and their conversation about trust, lingered in her mind.
As she stepped into the study, the room welcomed her with a warm ambiance. Soft lighting illuminated the shelves filled with books and artifacts. Edgar, seated behind his desk, greeted her with a warm smile.
“Lola, please come in,” he said, gesturing to a comfortable chair opposite him. “I hope you’re feeling better.”
