Chapter 94. Not a Bad Person

"Yeah, we need to get down from here." Kara lifted Louis without touching his cast, then held out one hand. "Come here, Emily. Mommy will carry you too."

Emily shook her head. Her tiny body leaned closer to Frank. "Mommy looks pale. What if Mommy isn't strong? We could fall. It's very high."

Frank's heart suddenly turned warm. One corner of his lips curled up. "Emily is right. You won't be strong. Therefore, leave Louis to me."

Kara's hands were shaking. She subconsciously kept Louis out of reach of his boss. "No."

"Mama, it's okay for me to be carried by Mister Grumpy. Even though I don't like him, he's stronger," Louis whispered with a reassuring nod.

Kara was running out of excuses. She couldn't possibly endanger the safety of the twins. Like it or not, she handed Louis over to Frank.
