Chapter 55

Looking at how his expression changed, she knew she had hit a nerve because she couldn’t understand why he was looking at her as if she asked him a more personal question. She was just surprised that she caught him many times looking at that same wine, and she realized that there must be a reason why he was looking at it. That was why she asked him.

She didn’t know that he might have any emotional reality with it. Maybe she needed to stop him from answering the question, maybe get something else that he would want to talk about because this was looking like something he wasn’t ready to talk about. She was not going to ask him to talk if he didn’t want to. She was very good at reading signals, and this was one of the signals that told her that whatever he knew about this wine was really personal for him. She didn’t do well with telling people that were not close to her how things were personal to her and how they meant to her. She was very good at hiding her emotions.
