Chapter 26

Silver stared at the still, sleeping form of Jason, loving how gentle and relaxed he looked in his sleep and hoped he got better soon. His fever had broken down, and the healers had said he had survived the worst of it, but to her, she felt like he was still in the throes of death as he hadn’t woken up.

She would like him to be conscious so she could be sure he was truly safe. She missed days when she could stare into his eyes and tease him to laugh. She raised her hand, tracing the rough stubble on his face, and smiled at the way it felt in her hands.

She folded her hands in an upright position and placed her head on it, staring at him. She doubted she could ever get tired of looking at him.

Mary peeped into the room and chuckled at the sight of Silver staring at Jason as he slept. Again. She doubted there was ever a time she didn’t come to the room and meet her like that. She had been that way ever since Jason had been brought to their kingdom four days ago.
