Chapter 6
Noella’s POV
Entering the mansion to see if I could be of any service to them, I notice the Abels have arrived.
They were all seated on the long armchair, and immediately after I entered, they saw me and sneered in annoyance.
“Where have you been?” my aunt shouted angrily.
I shivered in shock; her tone was so loud and fearful.
“I went out to check the firewood,” was the first lie I could come up with because the pressure I was getting from her sharp, angry eyes was too much.
“Firewood?” Laura snorts.
“Were you at home during the day, I mean the afternoon period?” my uncle asked anxiously, and I shook my head.
“No,” and then I realized they were afraid of leaking out their secret. They were searching for the culprit who overheard Laura and Mr. Frank’s conversation.
I remained sullen, like a coward.
“What are you still standing here for? Go make us something to eat,” my aunty instructed curtly.
