Chapter 4
Christian walked over to his brother, while I lowered my gaze and had no plans to raise my head, but unfortunately, that plan did not go as expected. “Look at me,” Christian demanded.
His voice was strong and dominated, just as I remembered. Even if I wanted to I could not disobey him, he was used to getting his way and ordered people around like it was nothing. I raised my head to look at him and was surprised when his look softened. How bad did I exactly look for him to lose his stone expression?
“And she comes here by uber too, it’s late at night and not everyone is as nice as me squirrel. You really have to look out for yourself, right Christian?” Enzo scolded me and looked at his brother for back up. I didn’t know I was able to feel even more embarrassed but yet here I was.
I made eye contact with Christian. He ignored his brother and kept observing me until I finally broke the eye contact and looked in the other direction.
“Don’t you have a car?” He asked. I hadn’t expected him to talk to me, so I let out a surprised gulp and shook my head. “I-I do...but my car...I do but I don’t come here by car,” I mumbled as if I was stupid.
Why did I have to be this awkward?
“Go change, I’m taking you home,” Christian ordered me around as if it was nothing. This was the last thing I needed and he was the last person I wanted to be around. Seeing him only reminded me that I was probably pregnant and hopeless. “It’s fine, I can go by myself.”
Christian eyes shot daggers at me and he was obviously not impressed by me going against him. “Enzo is right, it’s dangerous, it’s late, you’re sick and you look like shit.”
‘You look like shit’, for some reason it felt so different when he said it.
“I don’t want to bother you and I can really find my way back home but that for the o-“
“I will bring you, it’s an order,” Christian spoke as he clearly lost his patience. He was the last person I felt the need to argue with so I gave him a nod and agreed to his decision without saying another word.
“Go get changed, I’ll be at the back,” Christian spoke before he walked off, leaving me behind startled. Enzo who might have thought he was doing me a favor shrugged his shoulders and had a proud look on his face. “You see, now that it’s taken care of I can go.” He winked and walked off, leaving me all alone.
I did not want to let Christian wait for too long, so I changed my clothes at a fast speed and grabbed all of my belongings before I made my way to the back.
Christian leaned against the wall and smoked a cigarette as he held his phone against his ear. Interrupting him would’ve been a stupid thing to do, so I watched him from a distance and decided to not interfere with his phone call.
“It’s either you find me or I promise you, I’ll be finding you instead, but you’ll be paying me back one way or another, or I’ll kill you with my own bare hands!” He yelled out. I suddenly got chills throughout my body as I reminded myself what kind of family he was part of and realized it was not too early to make a run for it.
“Do you wanna know why? Because you can’t steal food from my fridge!” He chuckled as I let out a relieved breath and felt embarrassed at my stupidity. It was a normal conversation, and here I was, thinking he was threatening to really kill someone. I couldn’t help but smile when I noticed he was capable of truly interacting with others and had another personality trait besides just being cold all the time.
“Alright Vince, I’ll see you tomorrow.” He finally ended the phone call, before he threw his cigarette to the ground and got rid of the smoke. Christian turned around and gave me a glare as my eyes went big. I had been eavesdropping on his conversation while he knew I was here the entire time. “You coming?” He asked.
I nodded my head and followed him to his luxurious car which probably costed more than I would earn in a lifetime. How could I even sit in a car like this?
He opened the car door for me but before I could get in he grabbed me by my bare shoulder and turned me around as he pushed me against his car. Even if I wanted to move I couldn’t, because I was trapped in between his legs.
“Why do you girls always dress like it’s summer.” He chuckled while he removed his leather jacket. Christian wrapped the leather jacket around my body and pointed his head towards the car seat, forcing me to get in. “T-thanks,” I spoke, surprised before I stepped in.
I couldn’t help but wonder.
How did I end up in a car with the person I tried to avoid?
“Your address.” Christian frowned and pointed at the digital navigation system. “O-of course,” I whispered and typed in my address while he wasted no time sped off.
The drive was so awkward, and the fact that he turned on the radio to eliminate the silence made it even worse.
What would happen if I told him that I might’ve been pregnant?
Even if it was just for a second I considered telling him the truth, but after seeing how he avoided every single way of having to talk to me and not even knowing if I was really pregnant, I knew it was out of the question.
Christian wasn’t the one to exchange words. He didn’t do it three months ago and I was pretty sure he wouldn’t do so now. The night we slept together was the first time I had seen him for longer than a few minutes and felt drawn to him. He had something mysterious and sexy which was hard to find and his dominance was attractive. He caught me staring and didn’t seem to mind, because if he did I wouldn’t have ended up in his office.
I was aware that I was just like any other girl and that I wasn’t anything special, but knowing that none of the girls at the club had ever slept with him had definitely fed my ego, which was why it was a big slap in the face when he ignored me. I didn’t even know why I was surprised, because it was to be expected. He could have any other girl, so why would he waste his time with a stripper?
“I want you to take care of yourself. I’m responsible for you so if you’re going down my dad will bring me down with you.” He spoke after a while and turned down the volume of the radio. What an interesting way to tell me he cares.
“I’m fine,” I reassured him and looked down at my legs which were literally shaking. I took a deep breath and tried my hardest to appear as healthy as possible, but even a dead person could see through me at this point. “I don’t appreciate you lying to me.”
His words shocked me and I immediately apologized even though I didn’t intend to. Even if I was pregnant I would’ve never been able to be a parent in peace. I was not one to judge but he seemed like the person who would decide whether I was fit to be a mother or not. These thoughts weren’t exactly helping me and made me worry even more while making me realize that I wouldn’t be able to relax until I took a pregnancy test.
“You’re dad’s favorite, he won’t let me off the hook if something happens to you.” He tried to explain once more, but all it did was making me feel even more guilty. Lucio had always been good to me and the only thing I could give him in return was possibly an unplanned grandchild. Calm down Serena, you are not pregnant.
After a while, we arrived in my neighborhood and I felt a bit self-conscious. Chances were high that someone like Christian probably didn’t even want to be seen in this neighborhood, but yet here he was and he brought me all the way home. I looked at his face and tried to read an expression but failed as all I could see was his usual poker face.
“You’re a hard worker, but if you don’t feel better by tomorrow I need you to stay home and see a doctor, okay?” Christian spoke in a hurry. It was probably a way of telling me to get the hell out of his car, so he could leave this neighborhood right this instant. “Thank you, and I feel fine,” I told him as I got out of the car. I made my way to the apartment complex and noticed how he waited till the very last second until I closed the door. At least he was looking out for me and waited to see if I got home safely. That was a plus point right?
Who was I kidding, it obviously wasn’t.
I let out an exhausted sigh and wiped a tear from my eye as I thought about the hopeless life I lived.
Tomorrow I would be taking a pregnancy test and get this over with.
