Chapter 8. Kiss
I was about to enter my room when I heard a sob and a small noise from mama’s room.
My forehead furrowed. I turned off the chin lights. Only the lights from my bedroom were on.
I did not hesitate to approach there and peek.
Mama was sitting on the edge of her bed, crying while holding her cellphone.
“That’s why you didn’t come home, Ismael?! When else, huh? My God, Zandria is on her age! What will she say? You make me a fool for almost a year! And you’re going to tell me you wanted divorce?!”
I could not process what I heard. I even heard mama’s sob. I left immediately.
Dad is a seaman. We are expecting him to come home once every two years. But now he won’t.
He wanted a divorce. What will happen to us now?
I’m in so much pain. Mama is getting old! She gets sick! It’s too complicated. We both don’t have work.
I woke up the next day and got ready to go to school.
Mama was still asleep when I left. I just cooked food for her
