Calla didn’t remember how she made it out of Rico’s room. Her legs moved on their own while her mind stayed behind, trapped in his words, in his cold eyes, in the way he looked at her like she was nothing.
Her lips trembled the moment the door closed behind her, and the tears she had been holding back finally spilled. She pressed a hand to her mouth, swallowing the sound, her chest aching as she cried silently.
Every word he had thrown at her replayed in her head. They were sharp and cruel, cutting deeper each time.
‘Whore.’
‘Liar.’
‘Nothing.’
It hurt so badly she felt it in her bones, but she wiped her cheeks roughly and forced herself to breathe. He had pushed her away again, ordered her to leave like she meant nothing, but this time she refused to disappear quietly. Not now, not after everything.
