Chapter 124. The Palazzo
Rico yanked the door shut behind him, the sound echoing through the quiet hallway. His jaw clenched tightly as he took long, heavy strides away from the room, shoulders vibrating, and anger burning hot in his chest.
He dragged a hand over his face and through his hair, trying to calm the restless storm building inside him, but it refused to settle. Every step he took only seemed to make the tension worse.
So now she cared.
Now she wanted to know if the boy was fine, if he was adjusting, and if he missed her. He scoffed, his lips curling slightly in irritation.
Where had that concern been before? Where had all that sisterly devotion been when she was lying to him, busy under those men, and living her life without a care in the world if he was saved all by himself?
