Chapter 123. Like a Cage

Calla stood unmoving, watching Rico push forward into the room, closing the distance between them. She didn't take her eyes away from him, biting the inside of her cheek.

Rico strolled in like it was his room, his hands locked together behind him. He stopped three feet away from Calla, towering over her as he seized her from top to bottom.

She gulped, her eyes not leaving his. It's because she was too scared to look away.  

She wasn't sure why he came here. He'd told her their interactions would merely be based on orders and nothing personal. Why then was he here?

“Did I give you permission to discuss me with my family?” he asked, his voice low, which somehow made it worse.

Calla frowned, confusion quickly giving way to her irritation. “I didn’t know I wasn’t allowed to speak to them.”
