Chapter 67. Package at 9 pm
Calla chuckled, shaking her head in disbelief.
“No, it’s not.”
“It is,” he replied, still not quite getting what his sister was doing.
They stared at each other for a while, before Calla went into the living room to get her phone. She put on the screen and stared at the date.
“It really is Saturday today,” she mumbled to herself. She may be going crazy.
“Are you alright?” Eli appeared by her side, worry lacing his expression.
Calla forced a small smile, pinching her brother’s cheek. “I am,” she said. “I just—it was a prank. I wanted to test you… Gotcha!” She gave a dry laugh, pointing her fingers at him.
She had to lie that she was only pranking him, to ease his growing worry.
“That’s not funny, Lyra,” he said matter-of-factly, his small face set in a frown.
Calla dropped her humorless laugh. “I know and I’m sorry, sweetpea.” She pulled him into a hug. Her hand was rubbing up and down his back.
