Chapter 60. It’s So Coincidental
After Cristofer left, Gretchen was so flustered that she immediately called Melody.
It was late at night, and Melody was sleeping before the call woke her up. She looked at York, who was sleeping soundly beside her, and then got out of bed quietly and went to the balcony to answer the phone.
“Mom, Cristofer seems to suspect me. What should I do?” Gretchen hurriedly spurted out.
“What does he suspect you about? The car accident or the death of that old maid?”
“Neither,” Gretchen said anxiously. “Mom, do you know Rebecca? She’s Estelle’s good friend. She saw me when I went to the hospital to have an abortion a few years ago.”
“It’s so coincidental,” Melody wondered.
Gretchen spat and said, “Just my bad luck! I didn’t expect that seven years had passed, and she still remembers me. Mom, I’m so afraid now.”
