Chapter 108. You’re Not Alone Anymore
Bella, too, was moved to tears by the painting, feeling the surge of longing it evoked. “This is beautiful, love,” she whispered to Austin, who was holding her close. But something caught her attention: Radmond had also painted a man and a woman in the sky, dressed in white with a halo of light, shown only in silhouette from the back.
The beautiful woman approached Radmond and asked, “Uncle, who are these?”
Radmond smiled. “These are your parents. I didn’t know what they looked like, so when I painted them, I imagined two angels who must have given birth to such an extraordinary daughter.”
Bella's eyes filled with tears.
“Because I believe you have amazing parents, dear…”
“Thank you, Uncle,” Bella said, sobbing but smiling.
She had never had any image of her parents. She didn’t even know their names, only that the head of the orphanage had told her she was left there because the elderly woman who had cared for her had passed away.
