Chapter 79. I Missed Him
Lila’s POV
It’s been three weeks and everything has been different ever since.
I missed Ryder, but I don’t know if he misses me and I guess now we are strangers, but strangers don’t steal glances.
They don’t pause for too long a heartbeat when your paths nearly intersect and a silent question lingers between you two and there is a flash of something unguarded and raw on their faces.
Thirdly, (if there’s anything like that), strangers don’t look back when they think no one is watching.
But Ryder and I did.
Every. Single. Time.
My days had been filled by this silent excruciating ritual. I always bump into him, and he was never alone.
And there was the goddess Salome. She was always by his side, immaculately groomed, touching his arms, kissing him on the cheeks.
I would also act as though I didn’t give a damn.
But I did remember how the façade would crumble, and the entire world would disappear when I held his attention
